Dr. Karl S. Musgrave 5/20/1938 - 1/7/2004
Most everyone knows that teeth may become sensitive after an orthodontic appointment during which the "braces were tightened". Dr. Karl Musgrave was keenly aware of this situation and wanted to help improve his patient's comfort.

In 1975, he presented the concept of the KM Thera-Bite to the Lancer orthodontic company as a method to increase patient cooperation by reducing-and in many instances-eliminating the brief discomfort sometimes associated with orthodontic treatment.
The KM Thera-Bite is dispensed at the first appointment and should be brought to each appointment. The patient is instructed to chew on the Thera-Bite for 20-25 minutes immediately after each appointment to reduce any possible discomfort. Chewing on the Thera-Bite accelerates blood circulation surrounding the teeth, which significantly reduces the edema or fluid accumulation in the region; the edema being a key factor in causing discomfort.
This is just one example of how at Musgrave Orthodontics:
"We care about what we do...
and especially care about our
patients"
